Ghosts, Ghouls & Goblins!
We had our first preschool party - Halloween Party of course! The kids dressed up and went for a spooky scavenger hunt/walk!
E = bangle tiger (although she didn't want to get her costume dirty so she didn't wear it on the walk)
A = army man
M = ballerina
S = Rapunzel
N = Darth Vader
They made ghosts and learned how to cut fringe.
One of the most favorite parts of the week was when they made ghosts snacks with large marshmallows and chocolate chips for eyes! It was a great Halloween party and a fun week learning about the letter "G", the number "6" and playing outside working on catching and throwing a ball.
FIRE! FIRE! FIRE!
Although the first week of October is National Fire Safety week, we talked about fire safety this week because it went so nicely with our letter "F".
The kid learned all about how to be safe around fire, the science behind what a fire needs to burn, what to do if their house catches on fire, how to stop drop and roll, made their own fire extinguishers, and how to dial 9-1-1!

We also practiced writing our names with chalk and tracing shadows. We learned how light makes shadows and why they are always moving/changing.
We also learned about Flags. Our shape was rectangles so we looked at flags from around the world and found where those countries were on a world map. Then the kids got to make their own flag!
We played "pick up leaves" with our number review. We were reviewing 0-5 by rolling dice and then picking up that many leaves which we then got to throw in the air and do it all over again!
A week about the letter "F" couldn't have been complete without talking about farms and fish! Our monthly theme being occupations, we fished for different jobs that start with "F" and then focused on 2 - farmers and fishermen!
The kids learned all about where different food comes from and what farmers do so that we can eat our favorite foods!
We looked at lots of pictures of different fish and learned how they are different from many of the animals we see on a farm.
One of their favorite activities was when we talked about feelings. Each child had a book with blank faces and we practiced showing our faces for each of the feeling and then they drew what those feelings looked like. S & E really liked this activity - M & A were more about the colors that they thought of and N thought it was awesome that the boy in his book looked like him :)
It was a very busy week at preschool but TONS of fun!!!!!
